I was contacted by Galerie D’art Urbania in Quebec City a couple of weeks ago. I am so honored to be their best emerging artist for this years Concours, un Chemin Vers l’Art.

They give this award in conjunction with Desserres art store. I was so excited, a $500 gift card to Deserres! wow!

I had no idea the was the smallest part of the prize. Two pieces, Cassey’s Kitten and Romeo, have been sent off to be hung in a show. On top of that I am now part of Urbania’s Digital Art gallery where 12 pieces are shown and up for sale. And, I get a special card so I keep getting discounts at Deserres.

I have been overwhelmed with the welcome I have received from Urbania and thrilled with the recognition. The timing could not be better as I am leaving my full time job and hope to do my art in a full time capacity.

I am a Canadian artist and have been working with colour pencils since the winter of 2018. I started by working on many different subjects but quickly realized I enjoy working on animal and bird portraits. I choose animals I have encountered personally and have a memory or emotion that I can attach to them. Attempting to transfer those feelings to the portrait is where the fun and challenge lies.
